I love my new shoes

kurta from Fab India, shoes from Charles and Keith and bag from Accessorize
I went to watch Band Baaja Barat in thhis relaxed outfit. My belief is that to make an Indian outfit different, you need to pair it with western accessories. I love the way Anoushka was styled in the movie though and we will try and do some of those style on Indian summer as well. But here, i wear a classic print Fab India kurta with snake skin print gladiators and a cute bow clutch cum purse. It adds an edge to the outfit.

It's the weekend

Kurta from Good Earth, Bag from Kala Ghoda, Bangles from the street

pants from cotton world, chaps from colaba causeway

ballerinas from lokhandwala, kurta from Cotton Cottage, chunni from Cottons

I somehow always always think i look the best in Indian. On Saturday, I headed for a play to Prithvi to watch the lovely "Tumhari Amrita" so decided to be all arty, and my friend Aditi looked like a pukka theatrewali too.  And on Sunday, I went for a Dosa breakfast in my favourite yellow kurta. Trust me, it's the best attire to beat the Mumbai heat and look pretty all at the same time :), If you are in a colder part of the country, just throw a shawl on!

The curvy woman stylebook

1. I think the most important thing is to highlight your best asset. I like my shoulders so i try and wear off shoulders or strappy stuff or halters. It really puts the attention there and makes you like a stunner. Another example, i have recently discovered that my upper waist, right below by bosom is where i am the thinnest, so empire line cuts are great for me...let's find out what's your best part and we will accentuate it.
2. If you want to draw attention away from your hips or that love handle, wear attractive V necks which will flatter you.
3. Never wear stuff that is too tight or too short.
4. Avoid trends such as harem pants, vertical stripes, ruffles, pleats, balloon dresses -- they just make you look bigger.
5. Darker colours streamline the body -- I noticed a friend that day wearing tight black jeans and she look gorgeous as it highlighted her booty in such a classy way.
6. Dress well inside - a well-fitted bra and shapewear will camouflage all your problem areas and is your wardrobe and confidence staple.
7. Wear a lot of Indian wear. Our clothes have been designed to suit the Indian figure -- be it the saree or the salwar kameez.. some styles will come here soon

and above all, love your body...it needs you too!

love lots

One pencil skirt: two great looks

hey guys
so my first effort was to try and replicate Scar Jo's awesome style that suits all us ladies with a cool bootie. A classic pencil skirt rounds you up nicely and makes it look sexy as hell! I also have done a more casual look with the black and white halter style top. I think the best thing to do is to know what your best asset is and flaunt that. I like my shoulders so thought will show them off. Today's homework for all you gorgeous girl is to find out what your best asset is and we will dig up outfits to compliment that.

The leopard top is thrifted from Lokhandwala market. I can take you guys if you really nice to me!! The skirt is from mango. The golden heels are from Charles and Keith, the black and white top from chemistry and the black shoes from Catwalk.

What is Indian Summer?

Hey guys
I abandoned this blog as I had my hands full with street style, but now as Samidha handles that with style enough for both of us :), I plan to put Indian Summer in high gear. Indian Summer will be about curvy women, more than curvy women, tips and tried and tested tricks, clothes that make us look slimmer, taller, lovelier. Clothes that make us feel good. Affordable and oh so comfortable. Indian ethnic will be high on my list and so will be western basics and dresses that suit any figure. Maybe a few make up tricks along the way too, shoes, accessories, it will all be here. I will also replicate popular styles in the simplest way possible. But at the end of the day, it will be your style that shines through. Not mine.
hope you will come drop by
love
